At Desert Chapel Christian Schools (DCCS), we are honored to provide an excellent, Christ-centered education for our elementary students. Grade-Level Overview

  • Transitional Kindergarten (TK): A Joyful Beginning to Learning

    Our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program is designed for children who may benefit from an extra year to grow socially, emotionally, and academically before entering Kindergarten. TK provides a nurturing environment where children:

    • Develop early literacy through letter recognition and phonics

    • Build pre-math skills, including number sense and patterns

    • Explore God’s world through hands-on science and nature activities

    • Engage in creative play, music, and art to foster social and emotional growth

    • Learn about God’s love through Bible stories, prayer, and scripture memorization

    Our TK program focuses on kindergarten readiness while allowing students to develop at their own pace in a supportive, Christ-centered environment.

  • Kindergarten: Laying a Foundation for Lifelong Learning

    Our Kindergarten program uses the Abeka Curriculum with supplementation from Bob Jones University. This nurturing environment focuses on:

    • Phonics-based reading and writing fundamentals

    • Early math skills including number recognition and basic operations

    • Bible stories and scripture memorization

    • Hands-on activities to develop fine motor skills and creativity

    Students are encouraged to explore, question, and grow while building a foundation for academic success and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • First Grade: Growing in Knowledge and Faith

    First grade focuses on core subjects while fostering curiosity and confidence. Key areas of study include:

    • Math: Foundational skills in addition, subtraction, and problem-solving

    • Language Arts: Phonics, spelling, and early reading comprehension

    • Science: Exploring God’s creation through hands-on experiences

    • History: Introduction to American history and cultural heritage

    • Bible: Daily lessons and take-home Bible stories to reinforce spiritual growth
