Weekly Scripture Verse
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
Since 1984, the National PTA has designated the first week in May as a special time to honor the men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating our children. How can you thank a teacher? Get creative! Here are just a few ideas:

➔ Write a letter to your teacher.
➔ Give a handmade gift!
➔ Send an Ecard that’s sure to brighten your teacher’s day.
➔ Make a poster for your teacher.
➔ Put together a classroom thank-you book with notes from every student.
➔ Decorate your teacher’s door
➔ Make a simple classroom decoration for your teacher.
➔ Record a video saying thank you to your teacher and email it to them.
➔ Create a few bookends that your teacher can use to keep their classroom library looking
stylish.
➔ Make a gift basket.
➔ Send flowers to your teacher, or gift him/her with a plant.
➔ Gift cards are always appreciated.
➔ Make a personalized door hanger for your teacher’s door.

IOWA STANDARDIZED TESTING
Commencing on Tuesday, Grades One through Eleven will be participating in our annual standardized testing. We are utilizing a new-to-us standardized test. Students will test in the mornings, and then continue with the regular school day in the afternoon. Please ensure that your student has a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast each morning. Testing is tiring, and brain energy is a must!

HYDRATION
Due to COVID restrictions and waiver guidelines, school water fountains are non-operational. With temperatures soaring, students are in need of frequent hydration. Please send your students with refillable flasks or multiple bottled waters. Middle and high school students can purchase bottled water at the Snack Shack. Please, ensure your student has cash to purchase extra water if needed. We are unable to provide water through the school office.

PARENT FACULTY MEETING
This will be our last Parent Faculty Meeting for the 2020-2021 academic year. Pastor Don will love to have a room full of parents on Thursday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars.

DC MERCHANDISE
DC face masks are for sale in the school office. Choose from three different styles. The masks are comfortable, breathable, and have adjustable straps. $10 per mask. Additional DC t-shirts, polos, and hoodies are available for purchase in the MS/HS office.

GIFT CARDS
Desert Chapel school families can purchase gift cards through our SCRIP program. A portion of the sales is donated back to Desert Chapel Christian School. Gift cards are available for restaurants, stores, gas stations, grocery stores, and online shopping. Contact Mrs. Behrend in the school office, or Mrs. Ulaan in the church office to place your order, or place your order online. See attached brochure for more information.
