E-Blast from the Head Of School, 6/24/21

Dear Parents:
This is the year that will forever be remembered as the year of COVID-19.  That moniker brought with it all the challenges we faced together - sickness, distance learning, masks, sanitizer, social distancing, and most alarmingly, fear.  Many of our families lost businesses, jobs, and hope for the future.

As I reflect back on these challenges, and remember the start of this past school year, the significance of securing our waiver was monumental.  Through the Lord's guidance, and significant time in prayer, He showed Himself faithful (Ephesians 3:20).  God did exceedingly, abundantly greater things than we asked or thought.

On September the 9th, we welcomed our students on campus, with temperature checks and new protocols.  From that day forward, our teachers and staff provided quality in-classroom instruction and laid powerful spiritual foundations that helped every child understand that our God is still in charge.  We do not have to let fear rule our life.  II Timothy 1:7 states, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

It was in that power we proceeded.  The Lord’s vision was clear, and we moved ahead, unhindered by the mandates and protocols.  DCCS remained open through all the tier color changes, when many schools were forced to distance education.  We met every directive and are so thankful for our faithful student body, and the sixty new students who now call DCCS their home.

The end of the year brought Baccalaureate and Graduation.  Both of these events were tremendous successes.  It is always difficult to say goodbye when our seniors graduate, but so exciting to see God’s clear call on their lives.  Let me take a second to brag on just a few of our seniors and the schools they will be attending.

  • Western Michigan University - Aviation
  • UC Irvine - Business Administration
  • University of Washington - Biochemistry
  • Embry Riddle University - Aeronautical Science
  • CSU San Bernardino - Nursing
  • CSU Fullerton - Business Management

We are so proud of all of the graduates … and the entire student body … who worked so very hard, demonstrating excellence, which continually reinforces that DCCS prepares its students rightly.
It was a great year!  The world wants to tell our kids that they are victims, but let me assure you, they are not victims!  They are conquerors, and we will continue to teach them to conquer whatever challenge is put before them, because our God takes what was meant for bad and makes it good (Genesis 50:20).

The classrooms are now empty, but we are diligently working and preparing for the first day of the 2021-2022 school year (August 30).  Get ready for the introduction of new Math and Bible curriculums.  DCCS is also proud to introduce our new Transitional Kindergarten class, which will be operational effective August 30th.  For more information, contact Christina Behrend in the office, or look at the enrollment packet on our website.

Great things await your student next year.  Let me, again, thank you all for your support. Together with the Lord, the 2021-2022 school year will be filled with victories.

Blessings,
Pastor Don
