MATTHEW RUZICKA

MHS Sciences & Mathematics
Mr. Ruzicka was raised in Palm Springs and graduated from Palm Springs High School. He was heavily influenced by his Christian teachers and coaches, including Gary Skinner, Carlyle Lyneis, and Albie Pearson.  As a result of their influence, as well as a prompting of the Holy Spirit, he died to the flesh and was baptized at a youth crusade, and was born again at age 22.

Mr. Ruzicka graduated High Honors (3.7 GPA) from College of the Desert with an Associate’s degree in Liberal Studies. He earned a Bachelor of Science (GPA 3.65) degree in Biology from University of California San Diego, and a Master’s degree in educational technology from CSU San Bernardino (3.85 GPA).

Mr. Ruzicka has worked full-time in public schools teaching Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Stage Production (carpentry), and Computer Business applications for six years. He worked part-time as a guest teacher for Riverside County Office of Education in correctional, adult, and remedial education for three years. Furthermore, Mr. Ruzicka has administered peer education programs at the college level, teaching peer tutors and staff how to teach and facilitate learning in the areas of math and science for 15 years.

Mr. Ruzicka has been married to his wife Georgina since 1998. They raise a daughter of 13 years old (7th grade at DCCS) and a 6 year old son (Kindergarten at DCCS).  He enjoys spending time with family, listening to CSN, reading, and building and fixing things and exploring the creation by learning about the natural world.

Mr. Ruzicka feels that all of his education and life experiences have prepared him to teach at a Christian school where teaching the truth is not only allowed, but required.  Because of this, Mr. Ruzicka is both humbled and highly honored to be working with the students at Desert Chapel Christian School.  Though his experience and academic achievements are good, Mr. Ruzicka realizes that without the gifting of God and the salvation of Jesus, he is nothing. So, he humbly, yet authoritatively, serves the students, the teaching community, and the Church.

These are the two scriptures that Mr. Ruzicka works by:

Accountability:

Matthew 18:6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Leadership Through Service:

Matthew 23:11 The greatest among you will be your servant.
