ALL SCHOOL NEWS..
KOREAN STUDENTS
The elementary and middle schools of Desert Chapel will be hosting Korean students for the month of January. Three students will be joining 5th grade. Two students will be joining 6th grade. Three students will be joining the 7th grade, and three more will join 8th grade. Please look for ways to be
welcoming, helpful, and encouraging.

MINIMUM DAY
The teachers will be meeting in the afternoon, so Wednesday, January 8th is an All-School Minimum Day, with an 11:30 a.m. dismissal.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL NEWS..
TUTORING
Middle and high school tutoring re-commences on Monday, January 6, 2020. Wednesday, January 8th will be a Teacher In-Service and Minimum Day, so tutoring will be cancelled for that day, unless you arrange otherwise directly with your tutor.
ASB LUNCH
ASB offers a yummy meal each Tuesday for $5. This week’s delicious lunch is:

2020 LOS ANGELES BRAIN BEE
The BrainBee allows students to learn more about neuroscience and compete with their peers for a chance to participate at the National Brain Bee! Students do not need prior knowledge in neuroscience to participate. It is recommended that students prepare for the event by downloading the following books:

During the competition, students will take a written exam and a practical exam involving human brain anatomy, in order to test their knowledge in basic neuroanatomy as well as principles in neuroscience.
All exam questions will be taken from the books listed above.
● As a part of the event, students will:
● Participate in interactive demonstrations about neuroscience and the brain
● Meet neuroscience professionals and students
● Go on campus tours at USC Health Sciences Campus
● Enjoy a complimentary lunch
Registration is free, and the event is scheduled for Saturday, February 1st, 2020 from 9am to 4pm at the University of Southern California Health Sciences Campus (USC).
