Homecoming Trip
The vote is in and the ballots are counted! This year’s Homecoming Trip will be to Disneyland on Saturday, October 19th, 2019. The Homecoming Trip is open to all Desert Chapel high school students. All students will be required to hand in a permission form signed by a parent. The cost is $60 per student or chaperone. We will need parent drivers. Payment and permission forms are due by Friday, October 4th. The permission form will be available in the office.

This is an exciting time for our Seniors, as they anticipate a new chapter of life after graduation from high school. We would like to congratulate MacKenzie Z. for her acceptance to Asuza Pacific University. We are proud of you, MacKenzie! We will continue to pray for God’s good work in the lives of all our students, but particularly the Seniors at this pivotal time of life.

ASB Weekly Lunch
ASB offers a delicious meal each Tuesday for $5. This week’s delicious lunch is:
● Baked Potato & Fixin’s Bar & Drink
Some students are wondering why the cost for ASB lunch has increased to $5. This is because at $4, we were not covering our costs or raising funds for ASB. Please remember that the funds raised benefit our students, as the ASB funds pay for Homecoming trips, Prom, goodies at Christmas, Senior night gifts, and much more.
ASB Pizza Lunch
Pizza is available for lunch on Thursday.
● Pizza & Drink: $5
● Pizza Only: $4

Encouragement from Coach Tim
Guidelines for Success
1. Never be outworked. Effort and attitude is within your control.
● Always put in 100% effort.
● “WINNING is not everything – but making the EFFORT to win is.” – Vince Lombardi
● Be willing to give everything that you have while competing and training.
2. Do not focus on your statistics.
● Sometimes an off-day can throw off your statistics.
● Focus on the process and making the next day a better day.
3. Remember that being the biggest or strongest athlete doesn’t make you the best.
● Develop ALL of your physical and mental skills.
● Never let a day go by where you do not improve mentally and physically.
4. Have a purpose in every practice.
● This will help you not go on “auto-pilot” during practices.
● Use your practices as a way to prepare you for competitions.
5. Stop comparing yourself to other people.
● Instead, compare yourself to yourself! Am I better than I was yesterday? Am I more aggressive
than I was last season?
● This way you can track your progress in a healthy way.
6. Be thankful for the opportunity to compete.
● Competing is something you GET to do, not something you HAVE to do.
● It’s a big commitment, but it’s worth it if you really appreciate the sport.
7. Be patient.
● “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
● Trust your coaches, and trust the process!
8. Compete for yourself.
● Don’t do it for your friends or your parents.
● You should compete, because you love it.
9. Never quit or give up.

● Even if you don’t win, make it really hard for your opponent(s) to win.
● Always put up the best fight you can.
10. Keep things in perspective.
● FAITH, FAMILY, and ACADEMICS come before sports.
● Reaffirm your values on a daily basis.
