RUBIO’S FUNDRAISER
Join us on Friday, December 20th at Rubio’s located at 5200 Ramon Road in Palm Springs between 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Rubio’s will donate 30% of the proceeds of your meal to Desert Chapel Christian School. Present the attached flyer.

NO TUTORING
There will be no Middle or High School tutoring on Wednesday, December 18th and Thursday, December 19th, due to the Minimum Day Schedule. However, students may reach out to their tutors to see if they can meet at the end of the school day at 11:30 a.m., if they wish to cover material or ask questions in preparation for semester finals.

ELEMENTARY NEWS..
FIELD TRIP
The 3rd and 4th Grade classes will go on a field trip to the Pacifica Assisted Living facility on Tuesday, December 17th. They will leave campus at 12:30 p.m. and return to campus by the end of the school day.

ELEMENTARY CHRISTMAS MUSICAL
The Elementary Christmas Musical, entitled, “A Red-Letter Christmas,” will be held on Thursday, December 19th at 6:30 p.m. This is a delightful musical with a very special message.

Requested Attire: Each class is being asked to wear a color of Christmas, as follows:
5th Grade – Angel costumes (provided)
4th Grade – Gold top, black bottom
3rd Grade – Red top, black bottom
2nd Grade – Green top, black bottom
1st Grade – Blue top, black bottom
Kindergarten – Manger costumes (provided)

Arrival Time:
● Kindergarteners will meet Mrs. Wood in the Sanctuary no later than 5:45 p.m.
● Grades 1-5 will meet in their classrooms no later than 6:15 p.m.

Reception to Follow: For the reception to follow we ask you to bring the following:

2020 LOS ANGELES BRAIN BEE
The BrainBee allows students to learn more about neuroscience and compete with their peers for a chance to participate at the National Brain Bee! Students do not need prior knowledge in neuroscience to participate. It is recommended that students prepare for the event by downloading the following books:

During the competition, students will take a written exam and a practical exam involving human brain anatomy, in order to test their knowledge in basic neuroanatomy as well as principles in neuroscience.
All exam questions will be taken from the books listed above.
● As a part of the event, students will:
● Participate in interactive demonstrations about neuroscience and the brain
● Meet neuroscience professionals and students
● Go on campus tours at USC Health Sciences Campus
● Enjoy a complimentary lunch
Registration is free, and the event is scheduled for Saturday, February 1st, 2020 from 9am to 4pm at the University of Southern California Health Sciences Campus (USC). This event is a really great way for high school students to expose themselves to academia and it looks great on a resume.
